White Meadows Farms has a great Sugar Bush Adventure!
During the Sugaring Off season, end of February to the end of March, White Meadows has a great Sugar Bush Adventure. A ride out in our sheltered hay wagon is the start of your Sugar Bush Adventure. Upon arrival at the Sugar Bush you can take a leisurely stroll into the woods. Once in the shelter of the forest you will begin your self guided tour where you’ll discover themed stations manned by our staff in period costumes that will explain the rich history of one of Canada’s first agricultural products, Maple Syrup. There are also stations where children can compare their “wing span” to that of local birds, or measure nearby trees to find out how many “taps” each could support. At the pioneer camp there is a traditional taffy making demonstration and you can even try tapping a tree the old fashioned way, with a hand drill!
Along the trail in our picturesque Carolinian forest we have labeled some of the trees that are indigenous to the area and included some interesting facts and information about them. Our Sugar Bush trails are groomed and well marked for your convenience. Several stations have fires where you can warm yourself. Most visitors spend between one and two hours in the Sugar Bush, so don’t forget to dress for the outdoors. Sheltered wagon rides back to the farm run continuously at approximately 20 minute intervals.
The Sugar Bush Adventure runs every weekend from February 21st - March 29th, 2008 and every day during the March Break from March 16th - 20th.
